What is Rejuran i?
Rejuran i is the polynucleotide injectable in the Rejuran range designed for the thin skin of the eye area.
The eye area has some of the thinnest skin on the face, and fine lines caused by expression often appear here early. Rejuran i is described as a polynucleotide product whose consistency is adapted to the characteristics of this area. It contains polynucleotides obtained from purified salmon DNA fragments. It does not change your own DNA; the aim is to support hydration and skin quality around the eyes.
Details of the product's concentration and consistency are given in the manufacturer's current instructions for use and are checked before treatment. Its legal status in Türkiye, batch number and expiry date are verified before the product is opened. Because the eye area is delicate, injection technique and anatomical knowledge matter as much as product choice. For anyone considering under-eye salmon DNA in Istanbul, the first step is identifying the cause of the darkness or lines.
What does it aim to do around the eyes, and what does it not do?
Rejuran i aims to support thin, dry, crepey-looking skin around the eyes; it does not fill tear-trough hollows or remove eye bags or hereditary dark circles.
The goals are softening of fine lines around the eyes, skin that looks more hydrated and denser in texture, and support for thin skin. Change is gradual and is reviewed over the course of sessions. Where darkness is caused by blood vessels showing through thin skin, supporting skin quality may make a limited contribution; this varies from person to person and is discussed openly at the consultation.
Volume loss in the tear trough and lid–cheek junction, bags caused by protruding fat pads, and pigment-related dark circles may not improve with polynucleotides alone. In those cases tear-trough filler, other mesotherapy options, pigment treatments or a surgical opinion may be considered. The cause of the darkness is identified at the assessment and, if needed, more than one method is sequenced within one plan at suitable intervals.
Who may not be suitable for Rejuran i?
It is generally not recommended, or is postponed, in cases of fish or salmon allergy, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or active infection or inflammation around the eyes.
Because the product is salmon-derived, your allergy history is always asked about. With insufficient safety data for pregnancy and breastfeeding, treatment is deferred. If you have a cold sore, a stye, an eczema flare or other inflammation on or around the eyelids, the area is allowed to heal first. If you have recently had eye surgery or are being followed for an eye condition, please mention this at the consultation.
People with prominent eye bags or a tendency to fluid retention may have more noticeable swelling after injection, so expectations are discussed carefully. Blood-thinning medication, bleeding disorders and active autoimmune disease need further assessment. Recent filler or other treatments around the eyes also affect timing. The physician decides on suitability once all of this information has been reviewed.
How is it performed, and how many sessions are needed?
After a topical anaesthetic cream, small amounts are placed around the eyes with a fine needle or cannula; a common plan is several sessions a few weeks apart.
The area is cleansed and a topical anaesthetic cream is usually applied. The product is placed in small points with a fine needle, or with a cannula, into the skin under and beside the eyes, taking care around blood vessels. You may feel stinging and pressure. Treatment of the eye area is usually shorter than a full-face session. Your eyes are protected during the procedure and the area is gently cleansed afterwards.
A common plan is three to four sessions, two to four weeks apart; the exact number depends on your skin. Rejuran i can be planned in the same session as Rejuran Healer for other areas of the face. How long the effect lasts varies, and maintenance is planned at follow-up. Because swelling around the eyes can be visible for a few days, visitors should plan treatment well before flying home or attending an important event.
What can I expect afterwards, and what are the risks?
Swelling, bruising, redness and small bumps may be more noticeable around the eyes than elsewhere; they usually settle within a few days.
Because the skin around the eyes is thin, bruising and swelling can be more visible here. Small bumps at the injection points usually flatten within a few days. Rarely, an allergic reaction, infection or prolonged swelling can occur. Any change in vision, increasing pain or a marked change in skin colour should be reported to your physician urgently; these signs are assessed without waiting.
You are advised not to wear eye make-up on the first day, not to rub the area and, if you wear contact lenses, to insert and remove them carefully. Sleeping with your head slightly raised may help reduce swelling. Avoiding saunas, strenuous exercise and alcohol for a few days, and using sunscreen and sunglasses, are generally recommended. Whether a cold compress is appropriate is explained after treatment.
Frequently asked questions
Will Rejuran i get rid of dark circles?
It depends on the cause. It may offer limited support where darkness relates to thin skin; darkness caused by pigment, volume loss or eye bags may not improve with this method alone.
How is Rejuran i different from tear-trough filler?
Rejuran i aims to support skin quality and does not add volume. Tear-trough filler is a hyaluronic acid treatment used for hollowness and volume loss. Which is suitable is decided at the assessment.
How long does swelling last after eye-area treatment?
Swelling and bruising usually settle within a few days. They may last longer in people prone to fluid retention; contact your physician if anything unexpected occurs.
Can Rejuran i and Rejuran Healer be done in the same session?
These products are designed for different areas of the face and can be planned in the same session. The physician decides based on your skin.
Will Rejuran i get rid of crow's feet?
Rejuran i does not remove crow's feet on its own, because these lines are mostly caused by the muscle around the eye contracting when you smile. For movement lines, botulinum toxin is the option more often considered. Rejuran i aims to support the thin skin beside the eyes and fine lines seen at rest; the two may be planned at different times.
Should I stop aspirin or fish oil before Rejuran i?
If you take aspirin, fish oil (omega-3), vitamin E or ginkgo on your own, pausing them for about a week before Rejuran i is often advised, because they can increase bruising around the eyes. If aspirin or another blood thinner has been prescribed for you, do not stop it yourself; that decision is made with the doctor who prescribed it.
Can I have Rejuran i after eyelid surgery?
After eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), Rejuran i is usually considered only once the surgical area has fully healed. How long that takes depends on the type of operation and how healing progresses, and the operating surgeon's view is often sought. Sharing the date and type of surgery, and any dry-eye symptoms, helps the physician plan treatment safely.
Why is under-eye swelling worse in the morning after Rejuran i?
After Rejuran i, under-eye swelling is often worse in the morning because fluid collects more easily in the loose tissue around the eyes while you lie flat. This swelling usually eases during the day and settles within a few days. Sleeping with your head slightly raised and limiting salt and alcohol may help; contact your physician if swelling increases or becomes painful.
