Salmon DNA

What Does “Asia-Pacific Salmon DNA” Mean?

“Asia-Pacific salmon DNA” is a search phrase people use for polynucleotide products developed or made in the Asia-Pacific region, for example South Korea; it is not a separate treatment.

Where a product comes from does not, on its own, determine whether it suits you. What matters is its legal status in Türkiye, its traceability and a face-to-face assessment by the physician.

What does “Asia-Pacific salmon DNA” mean?

It is a phrase used to search for salmon DNA (polynucleotide) products developed or manufactured in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly South Korea.

Polynucleotide products are developed by different manufacturers in different countries. South Korea is one of the countries where many such products have been developed, and in Europe, for example in Italy, there are products in the same broad class. Online, phrases such as “Asia-Pacific salmon DNA” or “Korean salmon DNA” are mostly used to point to that geographical origin. They are not a medical or official classification and do not describe a specific product, ingredient or technique.

Products with very different content, concentration, consistency and indications can sit under the same phrase. The “Asia-Pacific” label therefore tells you little about what a product contains, which area it is designed for, or whether it is legally supplied in Türkiye. If you are researching salmon DNA before travelling to Istanbul, more useful questions are the exact product name, its manufacturer, its content and its regulatory status. You can ask about all of these at the consultation.

Does a product's country of origin decide whether it suits me?

No. The country a product comes from does not determine whether it is appropriate for your skin and health; that decision rests on an individual assessment.

Product choice depends on the area to be treated, your skin quality, your expectations, your allergy history and your general health. Two products made in different countries may each be considered for different needs in the same person. Rather than treating origin as a mark of quality, it is more useful to look at what a product is approved for, which areas it is designed for and how it must be stored. This information appears in the product's instructions for use.

This page does not present any product or country as better than another. Which product might be considered for you is decided by the physician after examining your skin and taking your history in person. In some cases an approach other than polynucleotides may be more appropriate, or postponing treatment may be advised. Phrases that trend on social media or in search results cannot replace an individual medical assessment of your own skin and health.

How should a polynucleotide product be assessed?

The basic checks are legal supply and registration in Türkiye, batch and expiry details, traceability, and storage under the manufacturer's conditions.

Products registered as medical devices in Türkiye can be traced through the national Product Tracking System (ÜTS). Genuine packaging shows a batch number, expiry date and the manufacturer's and importer's details. Products brought in privately from abroad, with unreadable labels or undocumented sources, raise additional safety questions because their content and storage cannot be verified. This applies regardless of the country of manufacture, and every product is assessed against the same criteria.

Before treatment you may ask to see the product name, packaging and batch information. Having treatment in a licensed healthcare facility, carried out by an authorised physician, also matters for proper follow-up should a side effect occur. Recording the product details makes future treatment planning easier, which is particularly helpful for international patients who may continue care at home. If you have had polynucleotides elsewhere, bring the product name and date.

Who may not be suitable, and how does the process work?

Fish or salmon allergy, pregnancy, breastfeeding and active infection at the site are key considerations for every polynucleotide product, whatever its origin.

Active autoimmune disease, bleeding disorders, blood-thinning medication and a tendency to keloid scarring also need further assessment. With insufficient safety data for pregnancy and breastfeeding, treatment is usually deferred. At the consultation your skin is examined, your expectations are discussed and together you consider whether polynucleotides are a realistic option. If they are, the product, areas and number of sessions are planned; if not, alternatives are discussed.

Treatment is usually carried out after a topical anaesthetic cream, using a fine needle or cannula, and you may feel stinging and pressure. A common plan is several sessions two to four weeks apart; the exact number is set individually. Response is reviewed at follow-up and maintenance planned if needed. Whether in Nişantaşı or elsewhere, the plan should be based on your personal assessment and shaped by your needs rather than by a product's origin.

What are the possible side effects and after-care?

Redness, swelling, bruising and small bumps at injection points are common and usually settle within a few days; allergic reactions are rare.

Small raised bumps (papules), tenderness and mild swelling may appear at the injection points and usually settle within a few days. Rarely, infection, prolonged swelling or an allergic reaction to fish-derived components can develop. If you notice breathing difficulty, widespread itching, increasing pain, fever or a marked change in skin colour, contact your physician without delay. These risks apply to all polynucleotides, regardless of where the product was made.

You are generally advised to avoid make-up on the first day, not to press on the area, and to avoid saunas, steam rooms, strenuous exercise and alcohol for a few days. Sunscreen is important while the skin recovers. If you are flying home or have an important event, allowing a few days after treatment gives redness and bumps time to settle. Personalised after-care advice is given after the procedure, based on the product and area treated.

Frequently asked questions

Is Asia-Pacific salmon DNA a separate treatment?

No. It is a search phrase describing polynucleotide products made in the Asia-Pacific region, for example South Korea. They belong to the same broad class as other polynucleotide products.

Are Korean products different from European ones?

Products can differ in content, concentration and indications depending on the manufacturer. These differences are assessed product by product, not by country, and neither is regarded as superior.

How can I tell whether a product is genuine?

The packaging should show a batch number, expiry date and manufacturer and importer details. Products registered as medical devices in Türkiye can be traced through ÜTS. You can ask for the box to be opened in front of you.

Can I bring my own product from abroad?

Products whose source, storage conditions and legal status in Türkiye cannot be verified are not recommended for safety reasons. The product used should be fully traceable.

Who decides which product is right for me?

The physician decides after a face-to-face assessment of your skin, your expectations and your medical history.

I started salmon DNA sessions in Korea. Can I continue them in Istanbul?

Yes, a salmon DNA course started in Korea can usually be continued in Istanbul. The product name, treatment dates, areas treated and any side effects you had make planning easier. If the same product is not legally available in Türkiye, the course can continue with a traceable product in a similar class; whether it resumes or is re-planned depends on your skin assessment.

Can salmon DNA give me Korean “glass skin”?

Salmon DNA is not designed to create a specific look such as “glass skin”, a Korean beauty-trend phrase for bright, smooth, hydrated-looking skin rather than a medical outcome. Salmon DNA aims to support hydration and texture, but pores, pigmentation, acne and daily skincare also shape that look. The realistic aim is gradual support for skin quality.

Is salmon DNA injected differently in Korea?

No, salmon DNA technique is set by the product's instructions for use, the area and the physician's assessment, not by country. Products are usually placed with a fine needle into many small points, or with a cannula; some centres also use automated injection devices. Technique can affect comfort and the look of the bumps, but safety depends on correct depth, amount and sterile conditions.

Are salmon DNA products developed in Korea suitable for non-Asian skin?

A product being developed in Korea is, in itself, neither an obstacle nor an advantage for non-Asian skin; suitability is judged by your skin type, skin concern and medical history, not by the product's origin or your ethnic background. People with darker skin or a tendency to pigmentation can develop temporary darkening after injections, so sun protection and timing are discussed separately.
